Yearning to Breathe Free *PATTERN ONLY* 18" x 25" Hooked Rug Pattern

Product Description

My tribute to the Statue of Liberty and America's former tradition of welcoming dreamers from all over the world. On my mother's side we have been here since 1620. Some of my ancestors fled religious persecution in Europe. On my father's side, my grandfather, then just a boy, arrived at Ellis Island in 1910 from Italy. He opened a custom tailor shop just outside of Philadelphia and lived "the American dream."

Our lady in NY Harbor has the following inscription on the plaque:

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" - Emma Lazarus

18" x 25" Available on unbleached primitive linen only, with serged edges. Our patterns are always drawn on the grain with at least 4" additional to fit on to your frame.

If you would like this pattern reversed for needle punch, let us know and we will be happy to do so.
